After Care

RECOMMENDED AFTER-CARE OF YOUR NEW TATTOO

Leave the patch that I put over your new tattoo on for at least 3 hours and remove it gently (maybe in the bath or shower would be best).

Wash your tattoo daily with warm water and use only a mild soap. Use either Preparation H, Palmers Cocoa Butter or Bio-Oil daily for the first week and every other day for the second week.

For God’s sake don’t scratch your new tattoo! Your new ink will form a light scab after a few days and will probably itch like mad. If you scratch or pick at the scabs you will be pulling the fresh ink out of your skin and your new tattoo will end up looking faded and blotchy. I will be able to tell if you have picked at your tattoo and you will not be entitled to your one free touch up. I will touch up your tattoo after six weeks and no sooner. Hand tattoos will not be eligible to a free touch up.

Everyone takes different times to heal but as a rule of thumb it will heal in about a week to two weeks after which you will experience a form of light skin peeling this is called silver skin (it looks a bit like sunburn) after this has gone your tattoos colour will come through and be as bright and vibrant as the day it was done.

Please avoid: Swimming; sunbathing; saunas; dirt; oil; grease; paint; industrial cleaners; caustic substances; raw meats; creams or ointments except the ones I have recommended.

Once it has healed you will have to look after your new tattoo with a moisturiser and if you go out in the sun or use sun beds, use a high factor sun block 30+. The sun can really kill your ink and make it look old before its time.
